Jordan Daily – At least 15 police officers and several civilians, including a priest, were killed in a series of coordinated attacks in Dagestan, southern Russia, officials said on Monday.
Unknown assailants targeted synagogues, Orthodox churches, and a traffic police station in Makhachkala, the regional capital, and Derbent, a city to the south. The attackers broke into an Orthodox church in Derbent, killing a local priest, and set fire to a synagogue. Photos and videos of the burning synagogue have circulated widely on social media.
The incidents included a deadly raid on the traffic police station in Makhachkala, resulting in shootouts that claimed the lives of at least 15 police officers, according to Russia Today.
