Jordan Daily – 17 Jordanian companies have submitted proposals for a feasibility study to establish a light rail between Amman and Zarqa, extending to Queen Alia International Airport, according to Ali Odaibat, media advisor at the Jordan Hejaz Railway Corporation.
Odaibat, as reported by Al Mamlaka TV, confirmed that the tender process and bid opening will conclude on Sunday, following an extension from the previous deadline of June 30.
The Jordan Hejaz Railway Corporation initially issued the tender for the economic feasibility study of the light rail project between Amman and Zarqa, extending to Queen Alia International Airport, with the submission deadline set for June 30.
In earlier statements, the corporation’s Director General, Zahi Khalil, mentioned that the proposed light rail project would span approximately 65 kilometers. Khalil anticipated that the rail line could transport about 40,000 to 50,000 passengers daily.
