Jordan Daily – Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) has received 32 new applications since the beginning of this year from companies seeking licences to operate ride-hailing and smart transport services, an official said.
Nidal Al-Assaf, who oversees smart transport applications at the commission, said 15 of the applications had received initial approval, but only one company has so far completed the final inspection requirements needed to obtain a licence.
The company is currently awaiting the signing of a contract before beginning operations in line with existing laws and regulations, Al-Assaf added.
The Land Transport Regulatory Commission issued new instructions on Dec. 1, 2025, to regulate passenger transport services provided through smart applications. The rules aim to organise the operations of service providers, drivers and vehicles, and to ensure compliance with regulatory and technical requirements.
