Health Ministry confirms Mpox case, ensures preparedness

Jordan Daily – The  Ministry of Health confirmed on Monday that a case of Mpox has been identified in a non-Jordanian resident.

According to a ministry statement, the patient is a 33-year-old male who developed symptoms, including a rash. The individual is currently in isolation at Al-Bashir Hospitals, with his condition reported as stable. The diagnosis was confirmed through a PCR test conducted by the ministry’s laboratories.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring Mpox and promised to maintain transparency by promptly reporting any new cases. It also emphasized the country’s preparedness to handle any developments related to the virus, in accordance with a pre-existing national response plan developed in coordination with relevant authorities.

This marks Jordan’s second reported case of Mpox, following a previous case recorded on September 8, 2022. In that instance, standard protocols were followed, effectively preventing further transmission, and the patient recovered without complications.
