Jordan Daily – Musa Maaytah, chairman of the Independent Election Commission, said Tuesday evening that, according to data from the Interior Ministry, around 515,000 Jordanians living abroad did not cast their votes due to being outside the country, despite being listed on the final voter rolls.
Speaking at a press conference at the media center, Maaytah explained that the election law does not allow expatriate Jordanians to vote while abroad. He noted that voter turnout would have reached approximately 36% if expatriates had participated.
Maaytah also highlighted that total voter turnout in the kingdom stood at 32.25%, an increase of around 250,000 voters compared to the previous elections, representing an 18% rise in the number of voters.
