Al Jalila Foundation honors donors for supporting UAE healthcare

Jordan Daily –  Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health, held a ceremony under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum to honour donor partners for their contributions to the UAE’s healthcare sector, according a statement.

The event took place at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, gathering over 70 donors and key figures including H.E. Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation, Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, and Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of the Foundation.

Sheikh Ahmed praised the donors’ contributions, saying their generosity reflects “the UAE’s enduring commitment to humanitarian values and philanthropic excellence.”

“We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated supporters whose contributions have significantly advanced Al Jalila Foundation’s initiatives and healthcare programs,” he said.

Dr. Al Gurg said the Foundation’s achievements reflect the “humanitarian commitment of the UAE’s philanthropic leaders,” and added, “Guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum… Al Jalila Foundation has become a model for sustainable giving.”

Dr. Al Zarooni noted that 2024 marked a milestone year, with the Foundation raising AED 177.65 million – a 30% increase from 2023. The funding supported treatment for 4,728 patients, up 15% from the previous year.

“Every dirham donated has brought new hope to its recipients,” Al Zarooni said.

The Foundation supports a range of initiatives including A’awen (life-saving heart treatments), The Child Fund (care for critically ill children), Ta’alouf (support for children of determination), and Majlis Al Amal (emotional support for female cancer patients).

It also backs medical education through scholarships and research via the Seed Grant Program. In 2024, AED 1.83 million was invested in biomedical research, funding 13 scholarships and 12 projects. A further AED 1.07 million supported 12 joint studies with the U.S. National Institutes of Health.

The ceremony concluded with testimonials from beneficiaries of various programs, highlighting the Foundation’s impact on patients and the community.
