Jordan Daily – Albania’s Interior Minister Albana Koçiu said on Monday she had dismissed Deputy Interior Minister Andi Mahila after a citizen reported seeing him smoking inside a restaurant, in breach of the country’s ban on smoking in enclosed spaces.
Koçiu said the incident was verified and described the act as “an unjustifiable violation of the law.” She added that such behavior was unacceptable for a senior official in an institution responsible for upholding public order.
The minister said she personally informed the complainant, an Albanian living in New York, and pledged that all citizen reports would be treated seriously and acted upon.
