Jordan Daily – The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat- Jordan) congratulated the Greater Amman Municipality after the capital’s Quality of Life Index was officially listed on the global Quality of Life platform, marking a milestone in the city’s urban development efforts.

With the inclusion, Amman becomes the second Arab city after Medina, Saudi Arabia and the 10th worldwide among 100 participating cities on the platform, according to UN-Habitat.

In a statement, seen by Jordan Daily the agency said the achievement “reflects a firm commitment to advancing a data-driven approach,” noting that measuring quality of life enables cities to better understand residents’ needs and direct resources where they matter most.

“Measuring quality of life contributes to understanding residents’ needs more accurately and guiding efforts toward what truly matters to them – more walkable neighborhoods, closer and better services, public and green spaces, and opportunities that enhance community well-being,” the statement said.

UN-Habitat said it was “proud of this continued partnership” with the Greater Amman Municipality and looked forward to “continuing to work with our partners to consolidate Amman’s position as a leading city regionally and globally.”

The agency added that the platform provides cities with standardized indicators to assess performance across social, economic and environmental dimensions, helping strengthen transparency and evidence-based planning.
