Aqaba gears up for 34th Jordan Open Golf Championship at Ayla Club

Jordan Daily – Preparations are in full swing in Aqaba ahead of the 34th edition of the Jordan Open Golf Championship, set to take place at the Ayla Golf Club from September 4 to 6. The annual event has grown significantly in scale and prestige, attracting an increasing number of participants from a wider range of countries.
The tournament highlights Aqaba’s growing reputation as a regional hub for sports and tourism, with golf becoming a key part of the area’s athletic identity. The event is organized through a strategic partnership between the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and Ayla Club, aiming to position Jordan prominently on the international golf map.
Officials say the 2025 championship will be the most notable yet, featuring a diverse field of professional and amateur players from multiple nationalities. Preparations at Ayla Club include upgrades to meet international standards and logistical arrangements to ensure optimal conditions for competitors, Ayla Oasis said in a statement received by Jordan Daily.
“We have worked diligently to provide all necessary facilities, including accommodation,food , and transportation, to guarantee a competitive and comfortable environment,” said Mansour Al-Kabariti, Director of Public Relations at Ayla Oasis Company, noting enhanced coordination between security, tourism bodies, and other stakeholders to present Jordan positively amid unprecedented participant numbers.
The organizing committees include specialized teams managing media promotion, ceremonies, guest reception, and player rehabilitation services, ensuring comprehensive support throughout the event.
Key institutional supporters include the Jordan Olympic Committee, offering full technical and organizational backing, and the Jordan Golf Federation, which actively promotes the tournament and invites regional and international golf federations. The Arab Golf Federation is expected to send strong teams, adding further competitive depth.
Alaa Barakat, Tournament Director, described this edition as a milestone for Jordanian golf, marking a step forward in establishing Jordan’s presence on the regional and global sports stage. He confirmed ongoing close cooperation with Ayla Club and other partners to deliver an unprecedented championship befitting Jordan’s sporting and touristic stature.
Barakat highlighted the high caliber of participants this year, with experienced professionals and amateurs ensuring a high-level competitive atmosphere that will showcase local talent and elevate the sport’s profile in the region.
Jordan Golf Federation Vice President Nasser Al-Shomali emphasized the event’s significance as one of the Middle East’s most prestigious amateur tournaments, influencing global player rankings. He described the championship as a golden opportunity to promote Jordan as a sports and tourism destination and praised Aqaba as a global gathering point for golf enthusiasts.
Al-Shomali also confirmed that the Jordan national golf team is preparing intensively, aiming to perform strongly and reflect the sport’s growing development in the kingdom.
The championship receives wide media coverage, reinforcing Jordan’s visibility on the international sports scene.
Ayla Club recently earned four prestigious global awards for sustainability at the 2024 Sustainable Luxury Awards, recognized for environmental stewardship in golf course management.
