By : JD
Jordan Daily – Foreign tourism in Aqaba has plummeted by 80%, the Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) said on Friday.
Nayef Al-Fayez told JordanTV that the Israeli assault on Gaza in early October has halted the influx of foreign visitors at the start of the peak season, after a period of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added domestic tourism has also suffered a sharp drop, with hotel occupancy rates falling to 16% in one of the months, calling the figures “scary”.
