Aqaba unveils new tourism identity

Jordan Daily –  The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) has launched a new tourism identity, “By Nature,” and a website to showcase Aqaba and Wadi Rum’s natural beauty and hospitality. The initiative aims to enhance the region’s tourist experiences.

The launch event, attended by tourism sector representatives and other stakeholders, featured the introduction of Aqaba’s new concept supported by the “Promoting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises for Employment” project, implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Nayef Al-Fayez, the Chief of Commissioners of ASEZA Board highlighted the importance of the new identity in showcasing Aqaba’s unique blend of nature and culture. “The ‘By Nature’ identity emphasizes Aqaba’s beauty, tranquility, and strong connection to its residents. It is our duty to present Aqaba as a distinctive tourist destination where nature and humanity intertwine,” Al-Fayez stated.

The newly launched website (www.visitaqaba.com) offers interactive features and comprehensive information on Aqaba’s attractions, designed for easy visitor navigation.

The new tourism identity aligns with ASEZA’s 2024-2028 strategy, promoting Aqaba’s unique cultural experiences and natural attractions, including diving, community tourism, and bird watching.

Additionally, Aqaba’s Bird Observatory was recognized with second place in the Environment and Climate category at the 2024 Berlin International Travel and Tourism Exhibition, highlighting Aqaba’s commitment to becoming a green destination.

ASEZA Commissioner for Economic Development and Tourism , Hamza Haj Hassan emphasized ongoing sustainability initiatives, including the Green Fins, Green Key, and Blue Flag programs.

ASEZA invites everyone to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future for Aqaba, integrating tourism and environmental protection.
