Jordan Daily - A proposal submitted by Iran is emerging as the central element in efforts to de-escalate tensions, after U.S. President Donald Trump said it could form a “workable basis” for negotiations.
According to a summary released by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the proposal includes the following points:
* The Strait of Hormuz to be reopened "under the co-ordination of the Armed Forces of Iran".
* The war against "all components" of Iran's Axis of Resistance to end.
* US forces to withdraw from "all bases and points of deployment within the region".
* The establishment of a "secure transit protocol" in the Strait of Hormuz.
* The full payment of compensation to Iran.
* The lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions, as well as the resolutions of the Security Council.
* The release of all frozen Iranian assets and properties abroad.
*Recognition of Iran’s role in regional security arrangements.
*Guarantees against future military escalation.
*Adoption of the proposal as a framework for future negotiations.
