Jordan Daily - Department of Statistics has completed the technical and logistical preparations for the 2026 Population and Housing Census, scheduled to take place in October, as part of efforts to update demographic, economic and social data to support development planning and policymaking, the department's director general said on Friday.
Director General Haidar Fraihat said field teams have been deployed across the kingdom to finalize census preparations, with around 1,400 enumerators, supervisors, monitors and quality-control officers currently conducting preliminary fieldwork in line with the established timetable.
Fraihat said the department would use advanced technology throughout the census process to ensure the accuracy and quality of the data collected while safeguarding the confidentiality of information provided by residents.
He added that citizens' data are protected under Jordanian law and through procedures implemented by the department in previous and current census operations.
The census is expected to provide updated statistics on Jordan's population, housing conditions and socio-economic indicators, forming a key reference for government planning and policy decisions.
