Jordan Daily - King Abdullah II will make a state visit to Malaysia on Oct. 11-12, as the two countries seek to strengthen economic and educational ties and reaffirm their shared support for Palestinian rights, Malaysia's foreign ministry in a statement said on Sunday.
The visit, at the invitation of Malaysia's King Sultan Ibrahim, marks King Abdullah's second state visit to Malaysia since May 2008 and comes as the two countries mark more than six decades of diplomatic relations established in 1965, the ministry said in the statement.
The Malaysian king will host an official welcoming ceremony at the National Palace. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is also scheduled to receive the King.
Bilateral trade reached 993.4 million Malaysian ringgit ($approximately 213 million) in 2025, up 15.2% from the previous year, according to the statement. Trade grew a further 8% to 740.7 million ringgit in the January-August period of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier.
Education is another key area of cooperation, with 1,636 Malaysian students enrolled in higher education institutions in Jordan and more than 1,490 Jordanian students studying in Malaysia, the ministry said.
Both countries are working to expand student exchanges, academic collaboration and the sharing of expertise, while strengthening cooperation in higher education and scientific research.
Malaysia and Jordan also share a commitment to promoting peace, justice and lasting stability in West Asia, particularly in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, the statement said.
