Jordan Daily - Minister of Investment Dr Tareq Abu Ghazaleh held talks with senior European Union and Belgian officials in Brussels to expand investment partnerships and encourage European companies to participate in a Jordan–EU Investment Conference scheduled for Nov. 19 at the Dead Sea.

The visit included meetings with EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič, Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica, and Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Agriculture David Clarinval, as well as European Commission officials responsible for the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf region.

Discussions focused on investment cooperation and translating shared interests into projects, with Jordan’s ambassador to Belgium and the EU, Yousef Bataineh also attending.

Abu Ghazaleh also took part in a roundtable organised by the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, where he discussed investment opportunities and ways to increase European private-sector participation in the conference.

He said Jordan offered European companies a competitive investment destination and a gateway to regional and international markets, citing its strategic location and skilled workforce.

The conference would provide a platform for investors, companies and financial institutions to identify specific opportunities and advance them towards negotiations, financing and implementation, he said.

Abu Ghazaleh stressed the importance of following up on opportunities after the conference to turn them into commercially viable projects that support Jordan’s economy, create jobs and facilitate technology and expertise transfer.

During the visit, Abu Ghazaleh and Šuica also reaffirmed preparations for the conference and called on European businesses to participate.
