Jordan Daily - Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) called for the protection of Palestinian communities, patients and healthcare workers after an Israeli settler attack injured one of its staff members in the southern West Bank on Oct. 15, the medical organization said in a statement.
The staff member was struck by a rock launched from a slingshot during what MSF described as a targeted attack on his village. He required immediate medical attention.
According to the colleague's account, about 20 settlers descended from nearby hills and attacked residents, with more arriving later. The settlers were armed with batons, rifles, stun grenades and slingshots, MSF said, adding that stun grenades and warning shots were used to advance into the village and force Palestinian residents back.
The incident comes amid increased violence, intimidation and insecurity affecting communities in Hebron and other parts of the occupied West Bank, according to MSF.
Access to medical care was complicated by road closures and restrictions linked to Israeli military activity. An ambulance could not reach the area because of unpaved roads, forcing the injured staff member to travel by private vehicle to meet the ambulance. He was then taken to a clinic before being transferred to a hospital.
MSF said the attack and restrictions on movement and healthcare access reflected a broader pattern undermining the safety and dignity of Palestinian communities.
The organisation condemned attacks against civilians and called for measures to protect Palestinian residents and medical personnel.
