Jordan Daily - Security officer was killed in a stabbing attack outside an embassy in the capital Amman on Thursday, in what initial indications suggest was a terrorist act, informed sources said.
The attacker, who was carrying several bladed weapons, including two daggers, attempted to seize the officer's weapon, the sources said.
A second security officer intervened, preventing the attacker from taking the weapon and engaging him in a confrontation. The second officer was taken to hospital after the clash.
Security forces arrested the attacker, while bomb disposal units were deployed to the scene to inspect the area and ensure it was safe.
The attack took place on Medina Street in Amman, where security forces established a heavy presence and closed several entrances to the street.
