Jordan Daily – Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) is seeking stronger international partnerships to bolster sustainable development and position Aqaba as a regional hub for investment and global trade, its chief said on Sunday.
Shadi Ramzi Al-Majali, Chairman of ASEZA’s Board of Commissioners, highlighted the authority’s commitment during a meeting with ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Australia, attended by ASEZA’s Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment, Mohammed Abu Omar.
Talks focused on prospects for economic and trade cooperation, as well as ongoing and planned development projects in the Red Sea port city. Al-Majali underlined Aqaba’s competitive advantages, including its strategic location as Jordan’s only seaport, broad network of free trade agreements, and investment incentives.
He pointed to upcoming strategic projects such as a national railway, Marsa Zayed waterfront development, the national water carrier project, and green hydrogen initiatives as key areas for potential collaboration.
The ambassadors from Malaysia, Australia, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand praised Aqaba’s progress and clear development vision. They expressed their countries’ interest in expanding cooperation and tapping into opportunities across logistics, ports and emerging industries.
The envoys also stressed that ASEAN companies view Aqaba as a promising destination for new investment, given Jordan’s efforts to attract international businesses and create a competitive environment.
