Association of Banks in Jordan joins European network

Jordan Daily – The European Banking & Financial Services Training Association (EBTN) has accepted the membership of the Association of Banks in Jordan (ABJ) , making it an associate member of the network.

The decision was announced on Friday during EBTN’s annual meeting held in Serbia, where the membership application was submitted by the Association’s Director General, Dr. Maher Al-Mahrouq, according to a statement sent to Jordan Daily.

In his speech, Al-Mahrouq emphasized the significance of collaboration with the EBTN, highlighting its role in advancing the work of the Association of Banks in Jordan. He discussed the Association’s origins, the services it offers, and the benefits of joining the European network , noting that the Association of Banks is the third Arab member to join EBTN, alongside institutions from Egypt and Lebanon, underscoring the importance of this membership for regional and international cooperation.

Al-Mahrouq also highlighted the unanimous support from EBTN members for the Association’s application, with no objections or abstentions. He acknowledged the backing from three international institutions, reflecting the Association’s strong reputation in both international and regional banking circles. The Jordanian banking sector is recognized as robust and secure by these institutions.

The EBTN network comprises numerous countries worldwide, with 34 European members and 8 non-European members.

Al-Mahrouq stated that joining EBTN would offer significant benefits, including building international partnerships, connecting with financial institutions globally, and accessing one of the largest sources of banking knowledge and innovation. Members can follow best practices in training and capacity building, benefit from the network’s pool of financial experts, and participate in training programs, conferences, and workshops. Additionally, members can engage with specialized committees, such as those for sustainable finance, personal finance, and knowledge transfer.
