Jordan Daily – Ayla Oasis Development Company has welcomed a new package of government incentives aimed at enhancing the investment and tourism appeal of Aqaba, Jordan’s southern port city.

The measures, recently approved by the Cabinet, include customs exemptions and long-term residency incentives for foreign property buyers, along with tax breaks for Jordanian citizens purchasing homes within gated communities.

“These government decisions will play a pivotal role in encouraging real estate investment and attracting businesspeople, retirees, and professionals to make Aqaba their home,” said Mansour Al-Kabariti, Ayla’s Director of Public and Government Relations in a statement received by Jordan Daily.

Al-Kabariti noted the incentives also allow for renewable temporary vehicle entry permits, 5% customs duty exemptions and 16% sales tax waivers on personal boats, and duty-free entry for household furniture. Property owners will also receive extended residency permits covering dependents.

“This decision provides a competitive edge for Aqaba’s investment appeal and will boost promotional efforts to increase permanent residency,” he added, predicting broader economic benefits across multiple sectors.

“These incentives enhance Aqaba’s competitiveness as a regional and global investment destination by easing tax burdens and simplifying procedures,” Al-Kabariti said. He emphasized the real estate and tourism sectors’ direct role in job creation and economic growth.

With tourism on the rise — revenues up 15.3% to $2.4 billion and visitor numbers increasing 19% in the first third of 2025 – Al-Kabariti expects the new policies to give further momentum to the sector.

Ayla reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Jordan’s economic modernization vision through innovative real estate projects and international promotion. “These incentives pave the way for a new era of growth and prosperity,” Al-Kabariti said.
