Jordan Daily – The United States and Jordan marked 75 years of diplomatic relations on Sunday, highlighting their strategic partnership that covers security, economic and cultural areas.
The anniversary commemorates the day in 1949 when Wells Stabler became the first U.S. envoy to Jordan,. Since then, the two countries have developed a close alliance based on a shared vision of peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East.
“Our relationship has been a testament to a shared vision of peace, security, and prosperity for the entire region,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
Over the decades, the U.S. has supported Jordan’s inclusive economic development, water security, women and youth empowerment, and trade expansion. The U.S. has also backed Jordan’s role as a regional stabilizer, a humanitarian host and a counterterrorism partner.
“That strong foundation will enable us to further strengthen the U.S.-Jordan strategic partnership in the future,” Blinken said, adding that the U.S. remained dedicated to supporting Jordan under the leadership of King Abdullah II.
He also expressed his hope for deepening the historic ties between the two nations and their peoples.
