Jordan Daily – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Israel, Jordan, and three Asian allies in early November to discuss efforts to end the Gaza crisis and promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region, the State Department said.
Blinken will visit Tel Aviv, Amman, Tokyo, Seoul, and New Delhi from November 2 to 10, spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a statement.
In Israel, Blinken will reiterate U.S. support for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism and discuss ways to protect U.S. citizens and secure the release of hostages in the region, Miller said.
He will also work with Israeli authorities to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, where more than 8000 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes since Oct 7, according to health officials.
In Jordan, Blinken will underscore the importance of protecting civilian lives and facilitating the delivery of life-saving assistance to Gaza, as well as preventing the displacement of Palestinians outside of the enclave, Miller said.
He will also explore ways to reduce violence and regional tensions and reaffirm the U.S. commitment to working with partners to achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East, including the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Blinken will then lead U.S. delegations to Tokyo, Seoul, and New Delhi to advance collaborative efforts to support a free and open Indo-Pacific region that is prosperous, secure, connected, and resilient, Miller said.
