Jordan Daily – The Citi Foundation has selected the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as one of 50 community organizations worldwide to receive funding under its 2025 Global Innovation Challenge, part of a $500,000 support initiative.

According to a statement released Thursday, the IRC will implement the “Innovation for Economic Inclusion” program in Jordan, aiming to enhance financial inclusion and expand economic opportunities for youth aged 18–30, refugees, and women entrepreneurs, particularly in East Amman.

CEO / Citi Country Officer, Nour Jarrar said the initiative aligns with the foundation’s commitment to youth empowerment and economic resilience, and supports Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision focused on human capital development, innovation, and digital transformation.

Eka Zhvania, Country Director for the IRC in Jordan said the partnership will strengthen financial literacy, promote inclusive finance, and equip Jordanian youth, refugees, and women with skills needed to participate in the evolving economy.

The program builds on eight years of IRC youth support in Jordan and will introduce innovative alternative lending models in partnership with a Jordanian fintech startup. It will also provide financial literacy training, 21st-century skills such as AI and entrepreneurship, business mentorship, and grants for youth-led enterprises to support sustainable livelihoods and long-term economic inclusion.
