Jordan Daily – The State Security Court on Wednesday sentenced former parliamentarian Imad Al-Adwan to 10 years in prison with hard labor over his involvement in a weapons smuggling case. Three co-defendants also received similar sentences.
Al-Adwan and 13 other individuals faced trial on four charges, including “exporting firearms with the intent of unlawful use in collaboration, selling firearms for unlawful use, attempting to export firearms for unlawful use, and acts that disrupt public order and threaten community safety.”
The case began on April 22, 2023, when Israeli authorities stopped Al-Adwan’s vehicle at the King Hussein Bridge crossing. He attempted to prevent Israeli security forces from inspecting the vehicle but was unsuccessful.
On May 7, parliament voted to lift Al-Adwan’s immunity, allowing the court to proceed with charges. This followed his transfer from Israeli custody to Jordanian authorities via the King Hussein Bridge.
