Cultural event marks Bulgarian heritage in Amman

Jordan Daily – The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Jordan hosted a vibrant celebration on May 24th, commemorating the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, as well as the Bulgarian alphabet, enlightenment, and culture.

The event brought together students, parents, and guests, emphasizing the significance of preserving Bulgarian heritage abroad.

The cultural program, organized by students from the Bulgarian Sunday School “St. St. Cyril and Methodius,” featured traditional Bulgarian folk dances, songs, and poems. Mrs. Maria Cherkеzova, the school’s principal, played a pivotal role in orchestrating the festivities.

Ambassador Metin Kazak honored the occasion by presenting commemorative plaques to dedicated teachers and supporters of the school. Among the recipients were Mrs. Maria Cherkezova, Mrs. Siika Abawi, Mrs. Elena Jaber, Dr. Haidar Ali, Ali Al Fayez, and Nabil Al Bakri.

In his address, Ambassador Kazak expressed heartfelt gratitude to the educators, recognizing their vital role in nurturing the next generation. He wished them good health, inspiration, and unwavering commitment to preserving Bulgarian culture, history, and traditions.

The 5th-anniversary celebration at the Bulgarian Embassy in Jordan fostered unity within the Bulgarian community and renewed enthusiasm for their rich cultural heritage.
