Czech President visits Al Bashir Hospitals, Khalidi , JODDB, and Petra

Jordan Daily  – Czech President Petr Pavel embarked on a series of visits in Jordan on Tuesday, accompanied by Tourism and Antiquities Minister Makram Al-Qaisi, Czech Ambassador to Jordan Alexander Sporys , and a medical delegation.

Pavel’s tour included Al Bashir Hospitals, where he was received by the Acting Minister of Health, Mazen Al-Faraya. The Ministry of Health recently received a donation of medical equipment from the Czech Republic for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital at AlBashir Hospitals, as part of the Czech Republic’s reconstruction program in the Middle East.

The Czech President also visited the Khalidi Hospital as part of his visit to the Kingdom. His visit to the Khalidi Hospital was to inspect the MEDEVAC, a edical project which completed its tenth year in partnership with the Right Choice Company and Khalidi Hospital and Center.

President Pavel met with the Czech medical team and those in charge of the project, including the General Manager of the Right Choice, Ibtisam Jabr, and the General Manager of the Khalidi Center, Dr. Karim Al-Khalidi. The project has set records in the number of free surgeries performed for beneficiaries of this free medical project, a non-profit humanitarian medical project.

In addition, Pavel visited the special industrial area for defense industries affiliated with Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) to learn about the Jordanian experience in defense industries and discuss mutual cooperation.

The president and his accompanying delegation were briefed on a number of solutions, systems, and mechanisms produced by the center and its affiliated companies. They toured the production lines and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of defense industries and develop joint work.

The Czech President praised the capabilities and potentials of the center and its affiliated companies, expressing his country’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Jordan in the field of defense.

Furthermore, President Pavel and his accompanying delegation visited the ancient city of Petra and viewed the historical and archaeological sites in the Rose City. He was received by the President of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Region Development and Tourism Authority, Dr. Fares Breizat.

The President toured the archaeological and tourist sites of the City, including the Siq, the Treasury, the Court, and the Byzantine Church, in addition to a number of archaeological sites.

The importance of Petra as a prominent site for attracting tourists from various parts of the world and being on the UNESCO World Heritage List was highlighted by  Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Al-Qaisi.

Breizat presented the efforts made by the Authority to preserve the city and elevate the entire tourism process and the services provided to the tourist, referring to the comprehensive development operations that the Authority is working to achieve.

President Pavel expressed his happiness with the visit, confirming that it is a historical and beautiful opportunity to view the landmarks of Petra, which it is famous for, and because it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
