Death toll in Suwayda clashes rises to 30, dozens injured amid escalating violence

Jordan Daily – At least 30 people have been killed and over 80 wounded, including children, in ongoing clashes in Syria’s southern Suwayda province, local sources said on Monday. The violence, marked by armed confrontations and shelling, has been concentrated in the Al-Muqous neighborhood and other areas east of the city.

The escalation follows rapidly rising tensions between Druze gunmen and members of Bedouin tribes, triggered by incidents of mutual abductions and assaults. The fighting has led to widespread displacement from villages in Suwayda’s countryside, with several homes reportedly set ablaze and towns shelled.

Key routes, including the Damascus–Suwayda highway, have been blocked from multiple directions, while armed reinforcements from rural Daraa have reportedly arrived to support the tribes, raising fears of further escalation.
