Dr. Mohammad Abu Atieh: Championing CTG’s regional leadership in renewable energy

Jordan Daily – Dr. Mohammad Abu Atieh, the Regional and Country Manager for Jordan at CTGI Renewable Energy Partners, has been influential in advancing Jordan’s renewable energy sector. Since August 2022, under his leadership, several key projects have been acquired, marking a significant development in the region’s clean energy landscape.

Dr. Abu Atieh emphasized the importance of Jordan’s safe and stable investment environment, highlighting financial guarantees and sustainability as crucial factors for international investors. He pointed to Jordan’s commitment to honoring agreements with foreign partners, particularly the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), which provides the stability necessary for long-term energy investments. “The PPA framework in Jordan ensures that investors have the confidence they need to pursue large-scale projects,” Abu Atieh noted.

Since the acquisitions began, Dr. Abu Atieh has set ambitious goals, focusing on expanding renewable energy portfolios in Jordan. “Our ambitions extend further than what we’ve already achieved. We are actively looking to acquire additional existing projects,” he stated. Despite the current pause on new renewable projects due to grid constraints by the Jordanian government and the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Abu Atieh remains focused on expanding and optimizing current ventures.

His role extends beyond Jordan, with oversight of solar energy projects in Egypt, signaling a broader regional commitment to renewable energy development.

More than just financial investments, Dr. Abu Atieh is passionate about fostering regional development and creating opportunities for local communities. “Our aim is to not only grow the energy sector but to support sustainable development by creating jobs and preserving local communities,” he said. “We envision every governorate becoming a hub of growth, not just Amman.”

Through his leadership, Dr. Abu Atieh is driving not only the growth of Jordan’s energy sector but also contributing to regional socio-economic development by offering training and employment opportunities to local workers. His vision is shaping a sustainable future for communities across the Middle East.
