By : JD

Jordan Daily – Independent Election Commission said on Sunday it had set aside about JD 18 million for the parliamentary elections due by  next November, as part of its budget and operational plan.

The current parliament’s four-year term expires on Nov. 15, and the constitution requires new elections to be held within four months before that date. However, King Abdullah has the power to dissolve the assembly earlier or extend it for up to two years.

The commission’s spokesman, Mohammad Al-Rawashdeh, said that the body is ready to hold the polls within the constitutional timeframe, adding that the final decision rests with the king.
