Jordan Daily – The chairman of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC), Ziyad Saaida, inaugurated Jordan’s first major electric vehicle charging station on Tuesday in Al-Hosun, near Irbid.
Saaida emphasized that expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is a priority in the energy sector’s vision for economic modernization and comprehensive development. He announced plans for additional charging points in Irbid and other governorates across the Kingdom.
The EMRC is committed to increasing vehicle charging facilities to accommodate the growing number of electric cars, encouraging EV use, and investing in climate change and green transportation projects.
Saaida noted there are currently over 60 licensed charging points at gas stations, and 14 at shopping malls, hospitals, and other facilities. The commission has issued 350 permits for new stations and continues to receive licensing applications.
