Jordan Daily – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the European Parliament’s approval of a €500 million macro-financial assistance (MFA) package for the kingdom during a plenary session in Strasbourg on Tuesday.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah said the package was endorsed with strong support, receiving 571 votes in favor. He added that the European Commission is set to propose an additional €500 million package for Jordan, bringing the total assistance under this framework to €1 billion for the 2025-2027 period.

Qudah expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the European Union’s support, describing it as a reinforcement of the strategic partnership between the two sides and recognition of Jordan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

On January 29, 2025, King Abdullah II and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen attended the signing of the EU-Jordan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in Brussels. At the time, the EU announced a broader financial support package for Jordan worth approximately €3 billion for 2025-2027, including €640 million in grants, €1.4 billion in investment support, and the €1 billion macro-financial assistance package.
