Experience a winter wonderland in Slovakia

Jordan Daily – Slovakia, a country in the heart of Europe, offers a winter that was made for unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re a lover of downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, adrenaline, easy winter hiking, relaxation in a wellness centre or unique winter City Breaks, you’ll find your place in Slovakia during the winter months. You can look forward to a rich selection of options and several new features. The national organisation for the promotion of tourism, SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, presents winter in Slovakia.

“Slovakia is a paradise for skiers – we have more than 80 ski resorts, over 1,000 lifts and cable cars and about 500 kilometres of slopes. You can choose the largest ski resort in Slovakia, which is in Jasná, but also slopes in the Vysoké Tatry Mountains, Martinky, Kubínska Hoľa or smaller resorts in Mýto pod Ďumbierom or Valčianska dolina Valley and many others”, noted SLOVAKIA TRAVEL CEO Matej Fekete.

Traditionally, the largest ski resort in Slovakia – Jasná – opens the winter season first. It offers more than 50 kilometres of slopes of varying difficulties. Among them is the longest illuminated slope for evening skiing in Central Europe outside of the Alps. You’ll find more than twenty kilometres of slopes in the highest Slovak mountain range in Slovakia,  the Vysoké Tatry Mountains. Experienced skiers will be delighted by the highest and steepest slope from Lomnické sedlo, where freeride enthusiasts will also find a place to play. A novelty this season at Štrbské Pleso will be a new 8-seater chairlift climbing up to Medvedia kopa.

Are you seeking ideal places for cross-country skiing? Visit the Liptov region and the Vysoké Tatry. There are 70 kilometres of groomed cross-country skiing trails in the surroundings of Liptovský Mikuláš. The trails in Jasná and Čertovica have the best guarantee of snow, and in the Vysoké Tatry, you can try out more than 75 kilometres of trails. The largest cross-country skiing area is Štrbské Pleso with 8 groomed cross-country circuits. In addition, the possibilities for ski mountaineering – a combination of alpine tourism and skiing – are truly wide.

Even without snow cover, Slovakia offers a number of winter activities. Set off on winter walks in nature, which are safe even without snow, and discover the beauty of our mountains or national parks. Come to know the healing effects of thermal baths, relax during wellness stays, or discover new historical and cultural sites. Castles, manor houses and open-air museums all take on a unique atmosphere in winter, and a winter holiday without snow can be just as exceptional and full of comfort.

Enjoy the view of winter in Bratislava, Banská Štiavnica or Levoča. Combine peaceful walks with a visit to local galleries and museums, tasting culinary specialties and exploring unique places. After a frosty day, whether spent in nature or in historic streets, relax in thermal waters, enjoy the services of our aquaparks and recharge your batteries in wellness hotels and cozy guesthouses. Top off your winter evening by the fireplace with a glass of mulled wine or unique Slovak mead. Winter in Slovakia offers experiences in any weather. SLOVAKIA TRAVEL invites you to take a winter vacation in Slovakia.
