Fayez stresses the importance of cooperation between Jordan , Egypt in tourism sector

Jordan Daily  – Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Al-Fayez, on Wednesday participated in a workshop to enhance cooperation between Jordan and Egypt in the field of tourism.

In the workshop, organized by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), Al-Fayez lauded the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Egypt at all levels.

He also stressed that “coordination between the two countries in the tourism sector is distinguished and is at the highest level,” noting that Jordanian and Egyptian tourism producers complement each other.

Al-Fayez underlined the important outcomes of the Jordanian delegation’s visit to Egypt, pointing out to the signing of a memorandum of understanding and a program for joint cooperation between the two governments, which will be reflected into several executive programs between Jordan and Egypt.

He underscored the ministry and JTB’s keenness to meet with the Egyptian private sector, which constitutes a real partner, stressing the importance of focusing on tourism in general and religious tourism in particular.

For his part, JTB’s chairman, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, said that there is a great opportunity to attract Egyptian tourists to Jordan, given the number of Jordanian tourists who visit Egypt.

He pointed out that the number of Egyptian tourists to Jordan amounted to 48,000 in 2019 (i.e. before the Covid-19 pandemic).

He expressed hope that the number of tourists would increase, especially after overcoming obstacle of transportation, whether by land, sea or air, through coordination with a number of airlines and transport companies of both kinds.
