Jordan Daily – Department of Statistics has released its quarterly report on unemployment for the first quarter of 2024.
The unemployment rate stood at 21.4% in the first quarter of 2024, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from the first quarter of 2023, and remained steady compared to the fourth quarter of 2023.
The unemployment rate for males was 17.4% in the first quarter of 2024, a decrease of 2.2 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2023.
However, the unemployment rate among females rose to 34.7% in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 4.0 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2023.
The report highlights the ongoing challenges in the Jordanian labor market, particularly for women.
