First Jordan-Azerbaijan stamp exhibition launched in Amman

Jordan Daily – Jordan and Azerbaijan inaugurated their first joint postage stamp exhibition on Thursday at the National Library in Amman, highlighting over three decades of diplomatic ties.

The exhibition was opened by Chairman of Jordan Post Company Sami Dawoud and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Eldar Salimov, in collaboration with the Jordanian Philatelic and Numismatic Association and the Azerbaijani Embassy.

“This exhibition adds a new page to the record of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Jordan,” Salimov said at the opening ceremony, which was attended by ambassadors of Turkey, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Kazakhstan.

Salimov emphasized the deep cultural and historical connections between the two countries, noting that stamps are “not just a postal medium, but artistic expressions reflecting the heritage and identity of nations.”

He traced the history of Azerbaijani stamps from their inception in 1919 through the Soviet era, when the country lacked its own stamps, to the post-independence period beginning in 1992. “Each stamp is a silent message to the future and a symbol preserving the cultural spirit of nations,” he said.

Association President Jalil Tannous described the event as a indication to shared cultural heritage and a means to document bilateral cooperation. “Stamp collecting is a global culture that reflects the civilizational values of nations,” he added.

The three-day exhibition features 19 panels showcasing stamps depicting historical and cultural landmarks from both countries and commemorating milestones in bilateral relations since 1991.
