Jordan Daily – A Saudi court has sentenced the former head of public security to 20 years in prison for corruption, following his dismissal in 2021, state media reported on Friday.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), citing a statement from the Ministry of Interior, said a final verdict was issued against Lt. Gen. Khaled bin Qarar Al-Harbi, finding him guilty of bribery and forgery. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined one million Saudi riyals for these offenses.

Al-Harbi was also convicted of abusing his position for personal gain, exploiting government contracts, and embezzling public funds. For these crimes, he received an additional 10-year prison sentence and was ordered to return over 13 million riyals.

Al-Harbi had led the General Security Directorate since December 2018, and previously served as the head of the Special Emergency Forces for two years, according to local media reports.
