Former Syrian Vice President dies at 86

Jordan Daily – Syrian media outlets have reported the death of Farouk al-Sharaa, the former vice president of Syria, after a prolonged illness. Al-Sharaa was 86 years old.

Al-Sharaa had served as the Vice President of the Syrian Arab Republic since February 11, 2006. Prior to that role, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1984 to 2006.

As of early Tuesday morning, no official statement regarding al-Sharaa’s death has been released by the Syrian government.
