Jordan Daily – A gradual ban on smoking will be implemented in public and private universities and colleges, according to Mu’nad Al-Khatib, an advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Tuesday.
Al-Khatib said that the phased measures will begin with prohibiting smoking inside university and college buildings and facilities, eventually leading to a full ban across campuses.
He clarified that, under public health law, university campuses are classified as public spaces. While there is currently no issue with smoking in certain designated areas within campuses, Al-Khatib emphasized that these new regulations aim to bring smoking practices in line with public health standards.
