Jordan Daily – The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has completed the construction of a new pedestrian and cycling path along Sixtieth Street in the Zahran District , as part of its efforts to promote a culture of physical activity and provide safe spaces for outdoor sports.
The 500-metre path was designed according to international standards in terms of colors and specifications, drawing on global best practices, GAM said in a statement seen by Jordan Daily.
The walkway includes two separate lanes – one for pedestrians, 2.5 metres wide and painted maroon, and another for cyclists, 3.5 metres wide and painted blue. The cycling lane features a bicycle symbol every 50 metres, directional arrows, and distance markings from 100 to 500 metres.
The municipality also painted the sides of the path white and created a clear divider between the pedestrian and cycling lanes. In addition, crossing paths were installed on both sides of the street to allow residents easy access to nearby housing areas.
GAM said the move reflects its commitment to enhancing community well-being and encouraging sustainable urban mobility across the capital.
