German Jordanian University establishes faculty of nursing to meet growing demand

Jordan Daily – Approval has been granted by the Higher Education Council for the establishment of the Faculty of Nursing at the German Jordanian University.

The new faculty will offer a Bachelor of Nursing degree, starting the upcoming academic year 2023/2024, the University said a press release sent to Jordan Daily.

The establishment of this faculty aims to discover and enhance qualified and skilled nursing professionals of exceptional caliber, capable of delivering excellent healthcare and nursing services. It seeks to address the increasing demands within the healthcare sector at local, regional, and global levels, with a particular focus on the requirements of the German market.

Prof. Ala’addin Al-Halhouli, the President of the University, emphasized that the university is actively working through the faculty to forge partnerships with the health sector and Jordanian hospitals. These collaborations will provide students with valuable opportunities for practical field training in a conducive environment, ensuring they gain the necessary skills and experience.

Furthermore, the faculty will facilitate student exchange programs, enabling them to study at a German university and undergo training in German hospitals and healthcare institutions.

This initiative will equip students with the essential competencies and firsthand experience required to pursue careers in the German and European healthcare sectors. Additionally, agreements will be signed to directly offer job opportunities to graduates, addressing the severe shortage of nurses in Germany, according to Al-Halhouli.

Dr. Al-Halhouli highlighted that the faculty’s objectives include providing top-notch healthcare, promoting the nursing profession, establishing partnerships with research centers, enhancing the faculty’s capabilities, improving institutional performance, and adhering to accreditation and quality standards.
