Jordan Daily – Germany has pledged 45 million euros to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank, according to a joint statement from the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
In the statement seen by Jordan Daily , the funding includes 22 million euros from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, of which 15 million euros will be allocated to basic health and education services for Palestinian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. The remaining 7 million euros will be directed towards the Cash-for-Work programme for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
The Federal Foreign Office will provide an additional 23 million euros in aid for Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as for food assistance in the West Bank.
The statement clarified that these contributions are part of Germany’s regular regional assistance to UNRWA. It also highlighted that the German Government’s future support for UNRWA in the Gaza Strip will be determined based on the outcome of the ongoing assessment and review process.
