Germany grants Jordan €200 million in concessional loan to support reforms

By : JD

Jordan Daily – Germany has granted Jordan 200 million euros in untied financial credit to help the kingdom navigate economic challenges caused by regional conflicts, the German Embassy in Amman said on Sunday.

The concessional loan will support Jordan’s economic, political, and private sector reforms.

“The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a close partner to Germany. The Government of Germany commends the ambitious Jordanian reform agenda and the commitment of the Jordanian government and its people to hosting as many refugees from the region,” said Christine Toetzke, Director-General at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany, when the agreement was signed at the margins of the World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC.

Toetzke signed the financing agreement together with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan and Dr. Andrea Hauser, Member of the Management Committee of KfW Development Bank, last week.
