Jordan Daily – Chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce Khalil Hajj Tawfiq assured on Saturday that the prices of Indian rice in the local market will remain unaffected despite India’s recent decision to impose a ban on its export.
In his statements to the press, Hajj Tawfiq clarified that the export ban specifically targets a particular type of rice, which predominantly caters to African markets, and has minimal significance in Jordan’s local market.
Hajj Tawfiq emphasized that Jordan’s annual import of Indian rice stands at approximately 50,000 tons, and there is an ample stock of rice available.
Regarding rice import sources, Hajj Tawfiq mentioned that Jordan diversifies its imports from various countries, including the United States, Europe, Australia, Thailand, and Pakistan.
