Hamas proposes new ceasefire terms, seeks assurances from Russia and Turkey

By : JD

Jordan Daily – Hamas has presented new conditions for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal with Israel, according to a report by Israel’s Channel 13.

The demands, handed over last week, call for assurances from Russia and Turkey, alongside the continued mediation roles of Qatar and Egypt. Israel, however, has reportedly rejected these terms.

The report also stated that Hamas is seeking the release of 48 prisoners who were freed in a 2011 exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit but were later re-arrested.

Israel is said to be willing to release a large number of these prisoners, but not all, the broadcaster added.
