Jordan Daily – Dr. Haytham Ereifej, a prominent Jordanian lawyer, politician , and founder of Ereifej & Partners International Law Firm based in Amman, took part in an international conference hosted by the Kurdistan Regional Government titled “Kurdistan National Prayer Breakfast.”

The high-level event brought together religious leaders, policymakers, and civil society experts from Iraq and around the world to discuss strategies for advancing religious freedom and peaceful living.

Dr. Ereifej, representing  Alliance Defending Freedom, (ADF International), moderated a central panel discussion focused on the role of national institutions in promoting and protecting religious liberty. The panel explored how parliaments, religious councils, and civil society organizations can effectively support freedom of belief and counter rising trends of discrimination and extremism.

In his intervention, Dr. Ereifej highlighted that religious freedom is a core human right guaranteed by international conventions, and an essential foundation for citizenship, dignity, and social cohesion. He emphasized that enabling national institutions to fulfill their constitutional roles is vital to building stable and secure societies, grounded in the principles of mutual respect and equal citizenship.

“The advancement of religious freedom is not only a moral and legal imperative—it is also a strategic investment in peace and security,” Dr. Ereifej said. “When institutions are empowered to uphold these rights, societies are better equipped to resist division and violence.”

The event served as a key platform for sharing regional and global experiences in safeguarding religious freedom. It also reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s reputation as a space for open dialogue, pluralism, and respect for diversity.
