Jordan Daily – Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences is expanding its international partnerships, following discussions held at the university between Professor Darwish Badran, the university’s president, and Dr. Radzuwan Ab Rashid, Director and Minister Counselor of Education at the Education Malaysia in Jordan.
During the meeting, which took place at Ibn Sina University, Badran outlined the institution’s recent collaborations with renowned universities such as George Washington University, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of Glasgow. These agreements, he said, will strengthen the university’s medical and dental programs by overseeing curriculum development, supporting scientific research, and assisting with student evaluation.
Badran emphasized that the partnerships will provide opportunities for faculty development, as well as elective training and research placements for students. Dentistry students will be able to participate in a month-long elective program at the University of Texas starting next year, while Glasgow University will help in curriculum assessment and offer postgraduate and Ph.D. opportunities for Ibn Sina scholars.
Dr. Radzuwan expressed interest in establishing similar collaborations between Ibn Sina and leading Malaysian universities, such as the University of Malaya, which is ranked 60th globally. “Malaysia has seven universities in the top 500 worldwide, with expertise in medical education,” Rashid said.
He proposed collaboration in areas like curriculum review, faculty mentoring, and medical research. Rashid also offered to facilitate direct connections between Ibn Sina and Malaysian universities, including the University of Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
The meeting at Ibn Sina University concluded with both parties expressing optimism about potential future partnerships aimed at enhancing medical research and education.
