Jordan Daily – The window for submitting candidacy applications for the 20th parliamentary elections will close today, Thursday, at the end of the official working hours of the Independent Election Commission (IEC). The submission period, which began on Tuesday, marks a significant step towards the upcoming elections.
As of Wednesday, the IEC received 57 applications from candidates running in local and general lists on the second day of the nomination period. This brings the total to 171 lists, comprising 1,235 candidates.
IEC spokesperson Mohammad Khair Al-Rawashdeh reported that eight party lists, including two coalition lists, have submitted their candidacies, with a total of 237 candidates. Additionally, 49 local electoral lists have submitted their applications, featuring 279 candidates across 18 electoral districts in Jordan.
Al-Rawashdeh emphasized that the deadline for submitting candidacy applications is firm, stating, “The submission period ends with the close of official working hours today, and there will be no extension of this deadline.”
