Jordan Daily – The Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) launched the 8th edition of the Italian Design Day (IDD24) in Amman today, offering a global program of promotional events.
In a statement to the Jordan Daily , this year’s IDD theme is “Manufacturing value: inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability”, focusing on the production process that leads to the creation of aesthetically pleasing industrial design objects with high “material” value.
The event was inaugurated by the Italian Embassy, ITA Amman, and the School of Arts and Design at Jordan University. A seminar titled “Home, the Italian Way” was held by Professor Luca Molinari from Università della Campania “L. Vanvitelli”, who has thirty years’ experience in university education and architectural research.
Following the seminar, Italian Ambassador Luciano Pezzotti and Professor Molinari inaugurated the “100 Vases” exhibition at the School of Arts and Design gallery. The exhibition is designed to reflect IDD’s central themes of innovation and sustainability.
In addition to the exhibition, two UNIDO projects funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation AICS Amman were presented: “Creative Jordan”, aimed at supporting the textile value chain to create employment and economic opportunities in Jordan, and “LevelUP”, which aims to create job opportunities for women and youth and support the country’s inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
Jewellery created by designer Dana Alrousan was also showcased.
Amman’s main showrooms, featuring well-known Italian furniture and lighting brands, have joined IDD24 and will offer discounts from March 19 to 25, 2024.
