Jordan Daily – Interior Minister, Mazen Faraya, confirmed on Monday that the situation at the Jaber border crossing with Syria is secure and that efforts are underway to facilitate the return of Syrians to their country.
Speaking to the press, Faraya said there is coordination with the authority controlling the Syrian side of the crossing to receive any Jordanians returning from Syria, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.
Faraya noted that several journalists have been allowed to travel to Syria to cover the ongoing events, while some foreign nationals have also returned from Syrian territory.
He described traffic at the Jaber crossing as “light” and added that most Syrian transport vehicles had crossed back into Syria.
On Friday, the minister announced the temporary closure of the Jaber border crossing, which faces Syria’s Nasib crossing, citing security concerns in southern Syria.
