Jordan Daily – Ireland has approved the appointment of a full ambassador from Palestine, months after recognising the State of Palestine.
Ireland announced in May that it was recognising Palestine and formal diplomatic relations between the two states were established on 29 September. In response, Palestine informed the Department of Foreign Affairs of its intention to change Palestine’s representation in the country to a resident embassy, which would be headed by Dr Wahba Abdalmajid.
Ireland is also due to have its presence in Ramallah in the West Bank upgraded from a representative office to a full embassy, according to the Irish Times.
